Our workplace assessor course is back!

Here at Ergonix, like many others, we have had to adapt the way we work to take in to account government guidance and safety measures around COVID-19.

Swapping face-to-face work with all things virtual has been a huge change for us. But as things begin to return to some sort of normality, we’re delighted to be able to begin resuming our traditional services.

This includes delivery of our DSE (Display Screen Equipment) Workstation Assessor Foundation course, which we are once again now able to offer face-to-face.

Why is the ergonomic workstation assessor course beneficial to a business?

The set up of a workstation, unnatural positions and postures, as well as little movement and stretching during the working day, can be a key cause of developing musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs).

According to the Health and Safety Executive (HSE), MSDs are the second most commonly reported types of work-related illness in Great Britain, and workplace assessments can be an important element of keeping these disorders, which include back, neck, shoulder, arm and wrist pain, at bay.

Our ergonomic training course highlights the importance of carrying out DSE workstation assessments for desk-based employees and the benefits they give to businesses. These include reducing absenteeism by improving overall health and well-being, increasing productivity and morale and therefore reducing business costs through a fall in sick leave and compensation or insurance claims.

What is the purpose of the course?

The purpose of the course, which is accredited by the Chartered Institute of Ergonomics and Human Factors (CIEHF), is to give delegates knowledge and experience to enable them to become confident and competent DSE assessors themselves.

The onsite training equips them with an understanding of the legal guidelines and regulations relating to DSE ergonomic assessments and will allow them to identify physical, mental and environmental hazards and risks within the workplace, giving them the ability to make changes and recommendations that meet the needs of the assessed individual.

It also aims to instruct delegates on the holistic approach to ergonomic assessments and to improve their communication skills in relation to ergonomics in the workplace.

Completion of the course, which is currently carried out at the business premisis, also ensures that a business is complying with the health and safety regulations.

Who should attend the course?

Our course is aimed at the following:

  • Those who have no previous knowledge and experience in DSE Workstation Assessments.
  • DSE Assessors who wish to consolidate and/or update their knowledge.
  • Employees in roles including line managers, occupational health professionals, health and safety professionals, health practitioners, facilities managers and HR Personnel.
  • Delegates who wish to gain a CIEHF Accredited Certificate.

Will there be safety measures in place?

During the delivery of the course, safety measures will be put into place in line with current government guidelines. A distance of two meters or more will be kept and risk assessments will be carried out prior to the course to ensure it is safe for everyone to participate.

A maximum of eight delegates will be booked on to a course at any one time.
